It is not uncommon as one thinks that a mistress will want to meet with the wife and it's not only curiosity of what the wife looks like and what the mistress can find out about the marriage or the wife's husband, but also try to convince herself she shouldn't feel guilty for what she is doing.  Instead of the wife meeting with the mistress alone she should go after the perpetrator which is her husband and make him face up to the reality of it and choose two ways to react to this:  #1 Try talking to the husband and suggest marriage counseling or #2 have him come along and face up to what he's started with his mistress and then decide after the conversation if he's worth having around.  If the wife decides to walk away from this mess she can save grace by saying, 'Well, I've put up with him for a number of years and he's all yours!'  This often can cause shock to the husband and get him thinking twice about what he is doing to his wife and family.
